After starting a new life in Germany, you probably also started to look for resources to make settling in easier. Don’t overlook apps. While some apps are international, some are locally specific and can provide lots of convenience to life in Germany. Here I compiled a comprehensive list of 50+ most useful apps for life in Frankfurt. They are sorted under different categories:

Let’s start to take a look at what the most useful apps for life in Frankfurt are!

Money Saving

Among the most useful apps for life in Frankfurt, cost saving apps definitely take the top spot for me.

Too good to go

With a way cheaper price, you get the food that was not sold out on the day using this app. It helps not only to save money but also to save food. Very cool concept, huh? I am a huge fan of this app myself. One of my personal favourites is to get baked goods worth 10 euros from Einstein Cafe for 3 euros with the app.

Check 24

Check 24 is a price/cost comparison portal. It compares the prices from many websites/sources and helps you to locate the cheapest option. It offers comparisons for a huge range of things from travelling, electricity, cars to simply a coffee machine!

IDEALO

The biggest price comparison website in Germany. It covers all types of products, flights, hotels and holiday flats.

Clever-tanken.de

Not only can you get live info about all gas and charging stations around you in Germany, you also locate the best fuel prices in their magic map.

MyTopdeals

Similar to Mydealz, another app/website to find goods on sale.

Groupon

Unlike the other deal apps/websites, it has a broad range of deals with more focus on events, activities and restaurants but less on commercial goods. I personally use Groupon quite often for the restaurant deals.

Shoop.de

Another deal app. The difference is you get cashback when buying the deals. Sometimes you also get cashback + coupon from the app.

Kleiderkreisel

Thinking about what to do with some clothing you don’t want anymore but feel a pity to just throw them away? Why not sell them out via Kleiderkreisel? Kleiderkreisel is a clothing/accessory exchange portal. You can be either a buyer there to get some cheap stuff or a seller. You can also exchange your unwanted stuff with others.

Shpock

Another second market place to buy and sell. Unlike Kleiderkreisel which focuses on clothing/accessory, it is a market for a wider range of categories including electronics, cars, furnitures etc.

Linguee

You can also buy wine, track the ones you have tried and contribute your own reviews to the wine community.

Shopping

REWE

The REWE online supermarket where you can shop online and get delivery or pick-up service. It is very popular during Corona time. I still remember in March or April we tried to get our REWE groceries delivered and couldn’t find delivery slots at all.

GETNOW

Another online supermarket. Here I really want to thank GETNOW. While we had lots of difficulties getting delivery slots from REWE and other websites, we saw hope with GETNOW. The delivery service is perfect and there have been plenty delivery slots available. GETNOW is buying from Metro, so it is more suitable for buying in large quantities or for commercial purposes. You briefly describe your issue and when you would like to have an appointment and the app matches you with a suitable doctor. The appointment typically takes place with a video call on the app. It’s important to note that these doctor appointments are not covered by the public health insurance, so you have to cover the cost yourself.
